Unfortunately, visit to the ER is sometimes necessary. I agree that sometimes one needs to get as many opinions as it takes to get the right answers. I'm sure that most ER staff are awesome and competent. I guess the best answer is to ALWAYS get a second opinion, and a third if needed..most important, if you find a good veterinarian stick with him/her.
