Adoption Monday: Darbie, Labrador Retriever, New Milford, CT

Darbie is a beautiful girl waiting for the right family or person to give her the happily ever after she deserves.

When things go wrong, Darbie feels really bad. She's a soul whose intentions are good. Sometimes she can get carried away with joy and enthusiasm and need somebody who will understand that.

Darbie is a 2-year-old black lab mix and she, in fact, a very good girl. Very sweet girl, very smart girl....and sadly, a very misunderstood girl.

Darbie is wonderful with dogs her own size, older kids (10 and over), and adults. Unfortunately, she does not like cats and little dogs.

Darbie needs a family (or person) that will commit to never having cats or small dogs in the home.

Darbie is otherwise the best pooch you will ever meet. She is already house and crate trained with wonderful house manners. She is very good on leash but does tend to bark when crossing the path of other dogs. She is very obedient, responding to correction, and continues on without incident.

Darbie is currently fostered and introduced to new people through volunteers of all ages, most notably 3 young ladies ages 10 to 15 who take her on long daily outings.

Darbie knows quite a few commands such as sit, wait, paw (shake), and leave it. She is a complete love bug with people and good in the company of large male dogs.

Darbie has a unique special ability. She alerted when the family bird started having seizures and did stop barking until the bird received the help it needed (the bird is fine now).

Darbie would do best in a home where her people will give her the daily play time, exercise, love, and affection she needs and deserves.

Darbie is already spayed, up to date on all vaccinations, and current on preventatives. You'll not find a more lovable or loyal girl.

Best Friends For Life is a privately run, 501 c3 non profit organization, privately funded NO KILL dog rescue. They operate on a strictly volunteer basis out of foster homes.
