Veterinary Highlights: Badly Burned Dog Gets A Cutting Edge Treatment

For the first time ever, a burned dog received pigskin graft to help her heal.

Beatrice, a 5-year-old Chihuahua mix was stolen only to be found eleven days later with burns over 90 percent of her body. She got to a stage where she was not healing well.

The pigskin was applied to cover the wounds to give it a chance to heal.

If the procedure works out, the wound should heal almost completely. If the treatment is successful, pigskin might be used on more dogs in the future.
