Veterinary Highlights: Clinical Trials And Studies At NC State University

NC State University is currently seeking patients to participate in the following studies:

  1. My rottweiler had to be euthanized yesterday. He had a nasal tumor called chondro sarcoma. He had radiation therapy 10 doses, in June 2016 which was suppose to buy him at least 12 more months. It did not. He only got roughly five and a half. He never healed completely from the treatment and only did finally lose the scab on his snout the treatment caused the day before he died. Cancer Sucks!!!!!! The nose bleeds and sneezing only stopped for 2 months, then they returned. Anyone considering radiation as symptom relief or to buy time, CONSIDER CAREFULLY. It was hard on my rottweiler. Recovery was slow and didn't make any considerable improvement. He was only 8 years old and otherwise very healthy, muscular, beautiful, sweet, awesome dog. I will never consent to radiation therapy again for one of my babies. Lesson definitely learned the hard way!!! Bless you, my sweet baby dog. I love you Buford.

    1. So sorry for your loss. Cancer does suck indeed. Prognosis depends on a number of things. And some cases defy statistics whether on the good side or the bad. Whether or not to treat is always an individual decision with many variables.
