Veterinary Highlights: The End of the English Bulldog Breed?

English Bulldogs are the fourth most popular breed in America. They are as sweet as can be. But how healthy are they? Unfortunately, they seem to be the most unhealthy breed there is.

Did we push their popular traits too far?

Yes! There are certain breeds I'd never get, simply because I couldn't watch them not being able to life a full life because of their constitution and general health status. English Bulldog is on top of that list.

According to recent genetic assessment of the English Bulldog, the breed reached the point beyond repair.

I find that sad but not shocking. Which makes it even more sad. Why not mix in another similar breed for better health? Hubby will testify that I've been asking this question for a long time. Do we really want dogs perfect to a breed standard that got out of hand, or do we want happy and healthy dogs?

I want happy and healthy dogs.

What do you think they'd want if they had a say?
